About

My name is Courts Griner, and I am a professional photographer based in the Dallas area with a focus on creative portraits and commercial photography shot in digital as well as 35mm and 120 medium format film. At Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX, I studied extensively on creative imagery, color theory, image composition, illustration and artistic series focusing on subjects based on personal anecdotes in my life. Shortly after receiving a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Communication Design, I took on the role as a photo assistant for a large auction company in Dallas where I worked under several seasoned professional photographers, developing my skills and interest in catalog photography, studio work flow and advanced lighting techniques.

As an illustrator for over 10 years, I strive to tell a story within a single picture while maintaining imagery with an interesting composition. Developing strange and unusual characters during that time has lead me to shoot subjects in a way that would bring out their true character. When it comes to shooting portraits, I believe that everyone has a story to tell about themselves. It’s a philosophy I take with me and use on every assignment. Much of my inspiration for composition comes from clothing catalogs and editorial portraits. When I am not shooting portraits I focus my time on commercial imagery for local businesses, documentary, conceptional and landscape photography both urban and rural.

Photography is my passion, and I continue daily to explore new ways in capturing the world through my lens.
