Holiday portraits part 3
An indoor/outdoor holiday portrait session with Allison, Seth and Caitlyn:
Happy Holidays from Michi and Luke!
Continuing the holiday portrait series, I shot images of good friend Michi and her son Luke at their Denton, TX home. Situated on a quiet, quaint side street near UNT, it was a the perfect place to shoot both outside and inside images. The street had collection of cute, historical houses and white picket fence that outlined the Michi’s home. This series continued the use the “gift” props … which I had to inform 5 year old Luke that they weren’t really actual presents for him!
Holiday Shots continued with Claire and Bob…

Essence of Dance
For the past few years I have shooting the annual dance show for DanceXpress located in Carrollton, TX. Being inspired by the amazing work shown by the girls of this dance studio, I decided to do a small series of images focusing on movement and motion. Great job girls for all your talent and time helping with this project and also to Tricia for allowing us to use the dance studio for shooting. If you have not seen any of the DanceXpress shows, I certainly suggest going to their June show to watch some very talented girl showcase well done works in the dance arts!
Best 50th birthday bash ever…
At the beginning of August I was contacted to photograph a surprise 50th birthday. The big surprise was organized by Significant Events of Texas ( who also was the event planner for me and Anna’s wedding) and took place at 129 Leslie in Dallas. Dave THOUGHT he was there to see his son’s baseball awards ceremony….but was surprised to see 124 of his close friends and family greet him as he entered the venue with confetti. The theme for this party was a throwback to the 1960′s with a Beatles cover band!
Two:Tone sound…In the mix with Britni X3
Britni is a fellow DJ friend of mine who is part of a collective of DJs known as Two:Tone. They hold down a Drum N’ Bass weekly event every Thursday located at The Boiler Room on Elm street in Deep Ellum. Britni never wants to be viewed as a sassy-girl club DJ but more of a talented individual behind the turntables (That’s right folks…this girl and HER crew use turntables and records!) who provides party goers with the latest tracks both old and new from the Drum and Bass music movement. There will be more imagery of other members for the Two:Tone group to come but for now, here is our lovely Britni …
Ashley and Philip: The Big Day
When I first met with Ashley and Philip to discuss their wedding, I knew instantly by their relaxed demeanor that we were going to get along. The touching ceremony and pumpin’ reception were held at Northeast Wedding Chapel in Hurst. The beautiful stonework on the outside of the venue combined with the bright June day created some great portraits of the couple. And things ran so smoothly, we were ahead of schedule at one point! Congratulations, Ashley and Philip! Thanks for letting us be a part of your day!
Capturing the spirit of Dance: DanceXpress 2011
This summer has been quite a busy one in terms of photography! We kicked it off in June with yet another stellar performance by the talented DanceXpress performers. This was their yearly two night show put on at the amphitheatre in Carrollton. These events are normally indoors but the audience was able to enjoy the show from hillside and on the grass. I had a blast shooting this type of stuff as always. This event was also my first time to rent and use a Canon 2.8 24-70mm lens. This lens is quite pricey so I don’t own one but having it both nights resulted in stunning images as the sun went down and the stage lights shined.
